O God, by whose decree each moment of our lives
passes by, receive the prayers and sacrifices of Your servants
on behalf of those for whom in their sickness we ask for Your
mercy; so that we may rejoice in the safety of those at whose
danger we were afraid.
Please remember to pray for the safety and well
being of all of our soldiers in harm’s way, especially Bill
Politz, Brian Mifflin, Ryan McNeal, Chris Aydt and Mark Rice.
“Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as
they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless
acts they perform for us in our time of need. Amen.” Pray for
their families who wait anxiously for them to safely return
home, for the innocent victims of war, for our leaders who make
the decisions.

*Both the Gospel and the First
Reading for today are about a man who plants a vineyard and builds a
winepress and a watchtower. We hear that the vineyard owner’s hard
work brings only disappointment; the fruit of the vine is healthy
but the tenants of the vineyard will not respect the owner’s right
and privilege to the harvest. In both instances, the vineyard owner
does not realize the fruit of his labors.
Jesus helps us understand that
God is like the owner of the vineyard. God has created a very fine
vineyard-the beauty and goodness of our human hearts and souls. We
have been given the seeds of faith and the promise of eternal life.
Like the vineyard owners in today’s readings, God has planted in us
the very finest of everything. He even gave us his beloved Son to
show us his unconditional love. Our love for God, his Son, and one
another will bring forth from God’s vineyard a bountiful harvest of
joy, hope, and peace in the world.
*WHAT TO DO. . .are having
trouble deciding on candidates for the upcoming WHEN YOU. .
.election. Did you know that the Catholic bishops of the United
States have published an election year statement to help you connect
your faith to your decisions as citizens? The statement and dozens
of related resources are available at
www.faithfulcitizenship.org.
The web site features videos, podcasts, prayers, readings, and much
more to prepare you for the elections. You can also sign up to be
notified about new, free resources that become available.
*Many people search for a way to
meet their spiritual needs and become a part of a faith community.
People who want to know more about the Catholic Church come into
the Catholic faith by invitation. Do you know someone who is
interested in joining the Catholic Church? If so, invite them to
learn more about the Church and our Catholic faith through RCIA.
Maybe you can accompany them as their sponsor. Call the office with
names of those you know who are interested. Classes will begin
soon.
*To join a Why Catholic? group
call Irene Skomp at 812-659-2600. She can help you fit into a group
and make sure you have the book needed to help your participation in
this worthwhile program. The groups will be working on the last 6
chapters of Book 1-The Profession of Faith: What We Believe. This
book looks at the truths that we as Catholics believe and explores
the basic tenets of our faith. It offers insights on what it means
to be a Catholic, following “the oldest Roman catechism,” the
Apostles’ Creed. Groups will begin meeting this weekend, so please
call soon.
*Dear St. Peter Parish Family,
I want to thank my wonderful family of St. Peters. God, your
prayers and support have lifted my spirits for a great recovery from
open heart surgery. I am doing very well; just glad it is behind me,
only to look forward and upward. Thanks again, He is the only
solution. Evelyn Runnels.
*All are invited to a Parish
Growth Mission Sunday, Oct. 19 through Wednesday, Oct. 22. Father

have around the house and put it into your baby bottle. You will
have the entire month of October to add your change to the baby
